2 More women have complained of sexual attacks/assaults that have occurred in recent times in Adelaide cabs. The article states there have been 5 attacks now since the start of 2007 following on from 21 attacks in the last 7 months of last year.
I really do feel for the legit honest cabbies that are trying to make a dollar in Adelaide at the moment. This time of year would be one of the busiest for them with the V8 Supercars kicking off their season at the Clipsal 500 event in Adelaide this weekend.
I was driving in Perth when the Claremont murders happened and almost over night our income dropped 50% on what it had been. Women sat in the rear of cabs shoved up against the rear doors trying to remove themselves as much as possible from the cabbie whilst still remaining in the car.
Mothers came outside to take my photograph standing in front of my taxi license plate while holding my Dept of Transport photo ID card. I’d jokingly ask them to email me a copy but I never got one.
Cabbies got DNA swabbed by police to ‘rule them out’ of the investigation.
Of course I realise murder and sex attacks are completely different crimes for one thing the police have a live person to talk to and a description of the person they are looking for which is a big help. But anyway you look at it 26 attacks in 9 months is shocking.
I just hope they catch the drivers responsible.
Here’s something else to think about. It will be the good cabbies, the ones that know where they are going, speak english and are an asset to the industry, it will be those cabbies that will leave because they simply can’t make a living any more if this drags on for too long and they are the very drivers Adelaide needs if they are going to rebuild and regain the trust of the public.

The content of this post, as a follow-up on your prior post, opens the possibility that maybe the attackers are not real cabbies.
Interesting point and well spotted I hadn't even considered the possibility which I probably should have considering the previous post at which time the police thought it may have been a fake cab/cabbie that took the girls .......
When I had my last taxi a Fiat scudo I had a video camera nstalled(hidden)
Once a girl got in and lay on the back seat asleep, then she jumped up shouting Help! and I have been kidnapped.
After much ranting she put her hand between her legs and screamed I am all wet you bastard you drugged me and raped me.I broughr her to the police station and she told me that I would loose my licence Unless I paid her 200 quid! The tape was running but before we arriver at the station I let it slip that I didn't care she was on candid camera. Her attitude changed and she wouldn't come into the station.
I blew the horn for around 15 mins and got no response from inside the cop shop..She was screaming you can't hold me and if you lay a hand on me I will do you for assalt.
She paid me and got out.
I went into the station.Where I had to exolain everything and got the CLASSIC response. Sure if you didn't pay then there is no crime comitted. If SHE had scremed rape he would have been on me like a terrier.
I am still very angry about this.
Justice has had a very bad week here in Ireland.
I man from her town entered her house ,came into her room and raped her in the room where her children slept. She did not scream as the children might have been harmed.
He pleaded not guilty and the woman had to come to Dublin to give evadence. Her sexual history was questioned and though all the forensic proof was there, she was in effect put on trial.
He was not so robustly questioned I think he said he didn't remember it.
Jury finds him guilty.
The judge gives him a 2 YEAR SUSPENDED SENTENCE.
He went home on the same train as his victim. As she walked towards the exit he flicked his cigarette butt at her and glared.
The other case was of a taxi man who held 4 women and indecently assaulted and raped them over a 6 your period. One of them escaped he was given something like 8 years!
This week he has had his sentence halved by the courts.
THIS FUCKEN COUNTRY IS GONE TO THE DOGS.
right so someone can come into your house forcibly rape you right in front of your children regardless if they were awake or not and they receive a 2 year suspended sentence. So what is the court trying to say? That it's not a horrendous crime? or That while it is against the law and he has to behave himself from now on, that his life shouldn't be ruined by one moment of stupidity even though another persons life has most likely been ruined in that same instant?
Like you said "THIS FUCKEN COUNTRY IS GONE TO THE DOGS
The sad thing is Australia is getting to be just as bad
